Changes in Education System in India in 2020
The Indian government has approved the new education policy on 29 July 2020 and changed the name of the Ministry of Human Resource Development to the Ministry of Education.
According to the new
education policy, the format of 10 + 2 has been abolished and now it
will be
according to 5+3+3+4. That means that there will be one section from primary to
the second class, then the second part from third to fifth, third from sixth to
eighth, and last from ninth to twelfth.
According to the new
education policy, the first three years children will take pre-schooling education
in Anganwadi. Then in the next two years, children in class one and two will
study in school. A new curriculum plan will be prepared for these five years of
study. It will cover children between three and eight years of age. In this
way, the first five years of studies will be completed.
Primary stage
In this phase, class three to five will be studied. During this time,
children will be taught science, mathematics, and arts, etc. using new
techniques. It will cover children from 8 to 11 years of age.
Middle stage
It will have classes from 6 to 8 and it will cover children from 11 to 14
years. Lessons will be taught in these classes by subject. Skill development
courses will also be started in class six.
Secondary stage
In this stage, classes 9 to 12 will be studied in two phases, in which
intensive study of subjects will be done. There will be freedom to choose
subjects.

Major Changes in 10th and 12th board exams
There are some major changes
that will be made in the board exams of class X and Xll. The importance of
board examinations will be minimized. There are several important suggestions
Such as conducting examinations twice a year, dividing them into two parts objectives
and explanatory categories.
The main focus in the board examination will be on the knowledge test so that the tendency to rote among
students is over. The education policy states that various boards will prepare
a practical model of board examinations in the coming times Such as annual,
semester, and modular board examinations.
The report card will
be the child's portfolio
Children's report card will be changed. Children will be assessed in
three ways. One will be a student himself, another is a classmate and the third
is his teacher. For this, a National Assessment Center-Parakh will be created
which will periodically test the learning ability of children.
The school education
secretary said that the report card based on overall assessment has been talked
about while changing the form of report cards of children. There will be an
emphasis on testing life skills in every classroom so that when the child comes
out in the 12th standard, he will have a full portfolio. Apart from this, the
emphasis has been laid on advancing transparent and online education.
Study in the mother tongue
till fifth
In the new education policy, many big things have gone to reduce the
stress of children and to provide maximum convenience to the students.
Education will be provided in the mother tongue only up to class V and up to
eighth as far as possible.
Skill development from
class six
Skill development will be promoted in students from class six onwards.
Vocational courses will be started specifically for this. For this, its
interested students will be given an internship from class VI onwards. In
addition, music and art will be promoted. These will be implemented in the
course.
E-course in eight
languages
Education Secretary informed that in addition to Hindi and English
languages, there will be e-courses in eight regional languages. The program of
Virtual Lab will be carried forward. Along with this, there are also plans to
create a National Education Technology Forum. Education will be promoted in
PWDs through technology.
There has been talking of a
sexual education fund for girls. School Education Secretary Anita Karwal said
that it has been 15 years since the National Curriculum 2005 and now a new
curriculum will come. Similarly, it has been 11 years in the curriculum of
teacher education, it will also be improved.
M Phil syllabus will
be closed under new Education Policy
The
Central Government has approved the new Education Policy on 29 July 2020. Under
this policy, M Phil will now be discontinued. Instead, students can do a Ph.D.
after doing a master's degree or a four-year bachelor's degree program. Many
major changes have been made in the education policy.
Higher Education Secretary Amit Khare said
that in the new policy, multiple entry and exit (multi-level entry and exit)
system has been implemented. It consists of three and four-year UG courses and
Bachelor programs. The four-year course covers research in the fourth year.
After this, students can do a one-year master's course or Ph.D. Institutes may
offer a two-year master's degree program, with the second year being entirely
based on research.
In addition, institutions can offer integrated five-year bachelor's
and master's degree programs. A four-year degree program can then do an MA and
then a Ph.D. directly without an M Phil. Students who want to go into the field
of research will have a four-year degree program, while those who want to get
into the job will do a three-year degree program.
